A duplex stainless rod that deposits a roughly half austenite, half ferrite structure, combining high strength with strong resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking.

Typical uses

How it runs

  • Much higher strength deposit than the standard austenitic stainless rods
  • Heat input and interpass temperature must be controlled to hold the phase balance
  • Sluggish puddle with dense slag that needs full interpass cleaning
  • Bead face is duller than an austenitic deposit and slightly more magnetic

Storage and handling

Store sealed and dry in a warm cabinet, and keep atmospheric exposure short so the covering does not pick up moisture.
